He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a MBA from University of Liège in Belgium. Prior to joining Umicore, he worked as Strategy Consultant at Accenture advising chemical & pharma industries in Europe and USA in fields of innovation and value creation. In 2008, he joined Umicore (an industrial leader in advanced materials and recycling) as innovation manager clean tech, later moving to the Government Affairs team. EMIRI represents more than 50 organizations (industry, research, and associations) active in advanced materials for clean energy & clean mobility technologies. The association contributes to industrial leadership of developers, producers and users of advanced materials by shaping an appropriate policy framework at the European level.

At Younicos Lars is responsible for monitoring and influencing market and regulatory developments in the energy sector globally and translating them into opportunities for Younicos’ customers in storage, microgrid and hybrid markets under Aggreko’s energy-as-a-service model.

Dr Rahul Walawalkar is President & MD of Customized Energy Solutions (India). He leads the Emerging Technologies practice for CES globally. Rahul is founder and Executive Director of India Energy Storage Alliance since 2012. He served as board member for Energy Storage Association, USA during 2009-15 and currently serves as Vice Chair for Global Energy Storage Alliance. In 2014, he was nominated as part of Standing Committee on Energy Storage and Hybrid systems by MNRE and is currently working on drafting the national energy storage mission. Rahul holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. Under Rahul’s leadership CES has received various awards including IPPAI Power Innovation Award for creation of IESA in 2016-17, Brad Roberts Award for outstanding industry contribution by ESA in 2016, USAID’s PACEsetter Fund Award for MICRO initiative in 2016 and CII Innovative Energy Services Award for Tata Power Demand Response program in 2012. He was recognized with India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) President’s Award in 2018 for outstanding contribution to growth of smart grids in India.

His main focus is on the energy transition and the development of the energy system. He critically evaluates deployment scenarios and assumptions therein in order to assess the impact of technological innovation and technology options. In the past, Ioannis has worked as a researcher on energy systems at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University.
